Two Rights Sometimes Make a Wrong
At the SAC’96 a new iterated block cipher, Akelarre, was proposed. Akelarre uses components of the block ciphers RC5 and IDEA and is conjectured strong with four rounds. This paper shows that Akelarre with any number of rounds is weak even under a ciphertext only attack. This illustrates that mixing two (presumably) strong ciphers is not always a good idea.

متن کاملCompensatory effects in moral judgment: two rights don't make up for a wrong.
Ratings of the morality of persons described as having committed moral and immoral behaviors indicate that good deeds do not make up for bad ones. The overall goodness of a person is determined mostly by his worst bad deed, with good deeds having lesser influence. Addition of moral deeds does improve ratings of sets containing low-valued items, but, consistent with previous research, this compe...
متن کاملOne Right Does Make a Wrong
Algorithmic debugging is a semi-automatic method for locating bugs in programs. An algorithmic debugger asks a user a series of questions about the intended behaviour of the program. Here we present two new methods that reduces the number of questions a user must answer to locate a bug. First, we describe a heuristic based on comparing computations of the same program with different inputs. Bes...
